CANADIAN AVIATION AND SPACE MUSEUM
Lighting System: Electronic Theatre Controls
Project Manager: Wayne Korhonen
System Designer: Martin Conboy Lighting Design
Project Scope:
The Canadian Aviation and Space Museum (CASM) is located in Ottawa ON, the nations capitol. This upgrade project consisted of two phases. The first phase was a complete replacement of the main hangers’ dimming system and control interfaces along with the addition of a new performance lighting venue in the centre of the main hanger. The second phase brought the addition of a performance theatre and learning classrooms to the newly constructed main entrance. Field Service .CA was contracted to complete the programming and project management of the architectural and performance lighting for this project.
Notable Features
Due to the extreme size of the main display hanger and the diverse lighting plot, a unique programming solution was required to provide the customer with functional and flexibility requirements to control the complete building lighting from multiple locations. The integration of an ETC Paradigm house lighting control system with the building’s BACnet system allowed single point control for the facility operations department. The main theatre can be controlled with the touch of a button via the integration of the ETC Paradigm lighting control system or through the full featured deployment of a theatrical lighting console. The digital transmission and switching of the production video throughout the venue allows content to be distributed to any room for either overflow coverage or full featured broadcast of content to the building and its patrons.
